Elisha’s Bones by Don Hoesel

Elisha's Bones

Is it conceivable that the power of God surging through Elisha's bones could be harnessed yet today? What if your life and the lives of those you care about depend upon you finding them first?
Every year, professor of antiquities Jack Hawthorne looks forward to the winter break as a time to hide away from his responsibilities, even if just for a week or two.  This year, his plans are derailed when he's offered a blank check from a man chasing a rumor. Billionaire Gordon Reese thinks he knows where the bones of the prophet Elisha are. The bones of the prophet once raised the dead to life, but they vanished from history in a whisper.
Bankrolled by a dying man of unlimited means, Hawthorne's hunt spans the globe and leads him into a deadly conspiracy older than the church itself. Born a skeptic, Jack doesn't think much of the assignment but he could use the money. He takes the first step on a chase for the legendary bones that will take him to the very ends of the earth. Jack soon finds that he got much more than he bargained for. The quest for Elisha's bones will take Jack across the globe to the likes of Venezuela, Ethiopia, and elsewhere. Throughout this adventure, Jack must contend both with others who are intent on finding the bones and those who intend to protect them.

In the process of searching for the bones of the prophet, Jack must face many of the skeletons that have suddenly come back to life right out of his own closet. He is finding, real or not, the power of Elisha's bones to be alive and well, if only figuratively. As the quest progresses, the stakes rise higher, the focus of the quest becomes less about finding the bones and more about getting out with his life. Finding the bones may be the only way to do it.
If you like Biblical archaeology, adventure action, and a good mystery, you'll love this entertaining story. As I read through the pages of this intriguing story I envisioned Harrison Ford playing the role, since I prefer to watch movies unfold as I read. This one definitely had the expertise and professionalism within its magical covers.

The Circle Series by Ted Dekker

Ted Dekker's most popular series - together at last in one volume. More than a million fans have been transfixed by Ted Dekker's groundbreaking Circle series of Black, Red, White, and Green. Each of the four novels have been bestsellers - with combined sales of more than a million units. Now all four books are together for the first time in a unique binding sure to appeal to new readers and long-term fans. The Circle is an epic story of evil and rescue, betrayal and love, and a terrorist threat unlike anything the human race has ever known. It's also the story of a man named Thomas Hunter - an unlikely hero who finds himself pulled between two worlds. In our reality, he works in a coffee house. In the other, he becomes a battle-scarred general leading a band of followers known as the Circle. Every time he falls asleep in one reality, he wakes in the other. The fates of both worlds now rest on his ability to shift realities through his dreams while trying to find a way to change history. The fate of two worlds comes down to one man's choice--and it is a most unlikely choice indeed, life, death, love, nothing is as it seems. Yet all will forever be transformed by the decisions of one man in the final hours of the Great Pursuit.
Amazing, the stories are full of everything that is good in a story, love, adventure, hate, betrayal, forgiveness.  It’s a circle series so it can be read starting with any book. This series is a perfect mix of entertainment and philosophy and adventure. An absolutely spell-binding retelling of the salvation story from the Bible. Ted Dekker does an amazing job at giving the reader a sensory experience of the spiritual world around us and a dynamic glimpse at the fact that Christians really do live in two realities at once--both realities threatened by evil. The Good News is that God has already triumphed and now works romancing those who would be His bride. Evil will not prevail!
While the story itself is fascinating, the real treasure here is his depiction of the history of salvation that is worked out through the “alternate” reality, where metaphorical themes from the Bible become tangible.

I highly recommended this series and all of Ted Dekker books... I have never EVER been disappointed!
