This is the description from the publisher and caught my interest. That is about as good as it got. It read like a cheesy TV drama. Now from time to time I like to see or read something a bit fun. This book didn’t bring anything fun or new to the picture. I am willing to suspend belief so the story can move forward, but this story was just too predictable and was a waste of time. 

 I wouldn’t recommend it.

A Godward Heart by John Piper

John Piper’s latest work, A Godward Heart, involves helping fellow Christians to delve deeper into intimacy with the Heavenly Father. Holding tight to Scripture, Piper discusses personal experiences alongside other spiritual tidbits. There is truly something for everyone in every stage of their Christian walk.

It’s written in the style of how a friend would talk to you over coffee. It seems to be written with today’s busy Christian in mind. It doesn’t require a huge investment of time, just an open heart to hear God’s truth.

He makes it clear in his opening that this is simply a collection of thoughts that may change someone’s life. An enjoyable read with short chapters on a variety of random topics regarding the Christian life that is easy to read and understand.

A thought-provoking devotional and I would recommend this book. The chapters are not very long and each covers a different topic. Though the chapters are brief, they have real substance to them, as the author offers real biblical teachings about the topics he writes about.

February Bride

A February Bride, by Betsy St. Amant is part of the Year of Weddings novella series.

The novella starts off with Allie and Marcus at the church, about to be married, when Allie gets cold feet and takes off leaving Marcus at the altar.

This novella is sort of cute. I didn’t like this story. The main character annoyed me too much to like the character. The other characters were fine, but 90 pages were too short to develop a decent story.  I was glad that it was short and was happy that it ended. The December Bride and A January Bride  are stories  worth the time to read.
